URL Encoder and Decoder
Component mode escapes URL separators too. Complete URI mode preserves reserved separators. A plus sign is not treated as a space.
Text is processed on your device, not uploaded or stored. Copying puts the result in your system clipboard.
How it works
Choose Encode or Decode. Use component mode for a single query value and complete URI mode to retain URL separators such as slash, colon and question mark. Paste text and copy the result. The tool transforms text without visiting any URL.
Example
In component mode, hello world becomes hello%20world. The text a&b becomes a%26b.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a plus sign remain a plus sign?
This tool uses URI percent encoding, not HTML form encoding. It does not replace plus signs with spaces; spaces encode as %20.
Why does decoding fail?
Every percent escape must contain two hexadecimal digits and represent valid UTF-8. Incomplete escapes such as %2 or invalid sequences are rejected rather than partially decoded.
